Celebrating Our Young Poets

Heywood Prep recently hosted a delightful event that shone a spotlight on the poetic talents of our pupils – the ‘Poetry by Heart’ Competition. We were fortunate to have Janet Brakspear from The Corsham Bookshop and the esteemed BAFTA and Golden Globe award-winning Actor, Dominic West, graciously volunteer their time as judges for the competition.

Their presence added a special touch to the event, making it even more memorable for our young poets. We extend our sincere thanks to Janet and Dominic for not only judging the competition but also for sharing their favourite poems and inspiring our pupils.

We want to applaud all the children who participated in the competition. It was evident that each student put in a lot of effort to memorise and perform their chosen poems. Their hard work and dedication truly paid off!

To our finalists, we offer a heartfelt congratulations and well done! Your achievements in reaching the finals of the competition are a testament to your talent and love for poetry.

The ‘Poetry by Heart’ Competition not only celebrates the creativity of our pupils but also fosters a deeper appreciation for literature and the arts within our Heywood community.
