Robotics Team Qualifies for National Final
Congratulations to the Marvellous Marshmallows, one of Heywood Prep’s Year 5 Lego Robotics team, who have secured their place at the FIRST Lego League UK National Final 2026 in Harrogate after a thrilling regional competition, winning 1st place Innovation Project and 2nd place Robot Performance trophies.
The team impressed judges with their creativity, collaboration and technical skill, demonstrating the teamwork and determination that have characterised their work this term. Their success means they will now represent Heywood Prep at the national event, where leading young robotics teams from across the UK will gather to compete.
The national final will take place at the Harrogate Convention Centre and brings together the top teams from regional competitions. Pupils design, build and programme Lego robots to complete a series of challenges, while also presenting an innovation project and demonstrating the programme’s core values of teamwork, creativity and problem solving.
The Marvellous Marshmallows have spent many weeks refining their robot design and practising their missions. Reaching the national stage is a wonderful achievement and reflects the enthusiasm and commitment the team has shown throughout the competition.
