Making their mark!

Nursery children have been busy developing their early literacy skills.

Copying patterns in the flour, sharing stories, practising their writing and exploring various mark-making techniques are all ways that literacy skills are introduced to our littlest children. Following on from Mrs Lawrence’s phonics lesson last week the Ash class went on a listening walk around the school grounds to identify the different sounds they could hear.

When exploring these early stages of literacy, the children are enhancing important skills, such as hand eye coordination, muscle movements and creative skills which will be beneficial when starting to write their names.
