Heywood Prep have been received ‘Highly Commended‘ approval from the Independent Schools Association for Excellence and Innovation in Performing Arts. This year the judges were looking for schools who go the extra mile in terms of their provision, achievement and teaching techniques. Our staff and pupils are thrilled to receive this accolade which recognises their hard work and enthusiasm. Head of Music, Angelique Williamson, said that ‘’we are very proud of our incredible pupils who make all our music projects come to life and share their love for music, both within the school and the community.”
Music is an intrinsic part of school life at Heywood Prep, and as you walk around the school you will hear children singing, playing instruments, taking part in choir practice and receiving one-to-one peripatetic lesson. This year children have the opportunity to take part in four different choirs and we have welcomed Shean Bowers, Assistant Director of Music at Bath Abbey, who will be involved in training some of our young voices.
Other exciting opportunities this year include: performing carols outside Bath Abbey and in local residential homes, visiting The Netherlands to take part in a musical collaboration with The British School of the Netherlands and forming a new school band!
