Heywood’s Digital Creators
Throughout their time at Heywood, pupils are taught to be digital creators rather than just users of technology.
From reception, where pupils are taught about algorithms using programmable toys, up to Year 6 where pupils evaluate the effectiveness of different programming languages for different tasks, ‘coding’ is a key element to Computer Science. Pupils use computational thinking to break down and simplify problems as well as apply previous learning to new contexts. Pupils learn new ways to solve problems and are also given the opportunity to be creative with their programming, making Computer Science not only fun, but a transferable skill to enable our pupils to become better learners.
