Heywood Parents Win Silver

Last Sunday a group of Heywood children and parents went to the University of Bristol sports ground to take part in a fun netball day with other prep schools.  It was hosted by England ladies netball players Serena Guthrie, Jo Harten and Jade Clarke.

The day consisted of different activities, including training drills and games in the morning, followed by lunch with a Question & Answer session in which the players talked about their netball careers and their journeys.  They also brought in their Commonwealth Games gold medals as well as their World Cup bronze medals from earlier this year.

After lunch, we split into groups and played a mini-tournament.  Heywood girls were mixed in with other schools.  In their groups, the girls played 3 matches.

The Heywood parents team did extremely well by coming second, considering it was their first time playing together as a team.  They narrowly lost 6-5 in the final from the last throw of the game!

At the end of the day, we were awarded our silver medals and had the opportunity to take photos and get autographs with the England players.

On behalf of everyone, I would like to say a massive thank you to Mrs Slade and Mrs Cammiade for arranging the day for us.
