Chinese New Year Celebrations

As part of the children’s global and cultural education, we have spent a day celebrating Chinese New Year.

It all started with an assembly, setting the scene for the day ahead. The children have been able to explore a broad range of activities: making Chinese lanterns, creating shadow puppets, writing simple phrases in Chinese, learning to count, and playing Jianzi! It was impressive to see some of our pupils tucking into their delicious Chinese lunch, choosing to use chopsticks instead of a knife and fork. The day culminated with the children in Pre Prep performing a song to the school, whilst Prep performed a dragon dance!

The children and staff have thoroughly enjoyed spending a day immersed in another culture and we are so looking forward to trying the dumplings that Years 3 and 4 made with Mrs Hunt and her friend, a yummy treat for tomorrow! 新年快乐
