Help your child be amazing!

We are an independent prep school and nursery, for boys and girls aged two to eleven, located in the heart of Corsham, Wiltshire, with two acres of beautiful gardens where children play, explore and learn.

You may be asking yourself, ‘Which are the best independent schools near me?, or ‘Are there any private primary schools near me?’. If that’s the case, then you will find the answers to those questions (and many more) here.

Welcome to Heywood Prep

Throughout school, from the youngest to the oldest, the key focus is on helping every child thrive and achieve his or her potential.

Our Individualised Learning sessions are built into the curriculum, and give us the flexibility to provide each girl and boy with extra support or fresh challenges according to their particular needs, keeping them interested in the experience of learning.

Wrap-around care

Heywood Prep is open 50 weeks of the year: 7.30am – 6.00pm during term time and 8.00am – 5.00pm during school holidays.

Our clubs and activities are designed to feed our children’s curiosity, encouraging them to explore new things, support their interests, improve their skills and discover more!

Opportunities

We try to offer our children as wide a selection of opportunities as possible. These provide a vital part of every child’s education, helping to widen their interests, giving them a chance to pursue their passions, and helping them to build confidence and team working skills.

Clubs and activities

Our clubs give children the chance to try out all sorts of fascinating activities. They might be things we don’t have time to cover in the normal curriculum.

Trips, adventures and expeditions

Every term, each class will take part in at least one school trip. These are designed to support and extend work that is going on in the classroom, and add colour and real-world relevance to classroom learning.

Bigger adventures await Heywood pupils, from residential activity weeks, to the Young Voices massed-schools choir at the O2 in London to the Wishford Weekend, which brings Year 6 pupils from all the schools in the Wishford Group together for a weekend of madcap fun and activities.

Entrepreneurship

Every year, Year-6 teams from each of the group’s eight schools take part in the Wishord Enterprise Award. Each team can apply for a start-up loan of up to £50 to develop an entrepreneurial idea and take it to market, with everything that that involves.

Next steps

Choosing a school for your child is an important decision. We want you to get to know our school and see for yourself that it is a place where your child will thrive and be happy.

As a first step, we strongly recommend you visit us to get a true feel for the character and ethos of the school. We hold three Open Days each year, but you are also welcome to make an appointment at another time to suit you, and we would encourage you to see the school on a normal working day.
