VICTORY for Heywood v The Mill!

Heywood v The Mill ~ Wednesday 9th November

On Wednesday 9th November eleven year 6 boys played the Mill. The final score was 14 – 0 to Heywood. When we arrived we were all excited, warmed up and got ready to play. I was the captain. We got off to great start when James scored his first goal of 7 within the first 10 minutes.  I scored the second goal.  Also Hal did a great run past a couple of defenders and placed it easily past the keeper. Also Hal did a great overhead.

Our goalkeepers (Jack and Hal) didn’t have to work very hard as the ball didn’t get to that end of the pitch much. In the second half Jack nutmegged a player and ran past the next defender and with ease kicked it past the keeper a great goal. Xavier, in his first football match ever, showed great defending skills throughout the game.

In the second half Ben put away two goals, one of them a long range shot from outside the box. Fraser did some great runs down the wing and set up several of the goals. In addition to that Anise and Jacob cleared the ball down the pitch and showed some great defending in our back three. Raihan and Alfie linked well with James down the wing.  Even though the Mill were well beaten they kept trying right to the end.

Man of the match: James for the number of goals he scored. I’d like to thank the whole team for playing amazingly well.

Thank you to Mr Hicks for organising the match and to Mr Hall for driving us there.
