MATCH REPORTS
By Iona
On Wednesday 12thOctober two teams from Heywood travelled to Warminster School for a hockey match. It took about 40 minutes to get there, however, as we were early we stopped at a service station to get some fresh air and run about a bit.
When we got there we were reminded which team we were in. I was captain of the yellow team playing defence, other members of the team included: Amelia playing defence, Jade playing centre, Rosie and Kate playing attack and Hannah played goalie.
Jade was very good at getting the ball near the goal but when we got to shooting the Warminster girls would snatch it off us. Amelia was very good at passing as was Rosie. And finally, if it wasn’t for Hannah’s spectacular goalie skills we would have let in a lot more goals than we did.
At the end of the match we had unfortunately lost 6-0 but the after match tea cheered us up. We were given a drink of water and sausage, chips and beans for dinner.
I would like to thank Mr. Dodds for transporting us and Mrs. Napier for organising the match, but also both of them for supporting us the whole time. I would also like to thank my team for trying their hardest and all though it is hard to pick a man of the match I have chosen two, Hannah for saving many further goal-bound opportunities from the other team, despite being hit in the head with the ball, and I have also chosen Jade because of how hard she tried and for all the times she almost scored us a goal.
The Hockey Match
On Wednesday 12th October 2011 seven girls from
Year five and five girls from year six went to a
Hockey Match against Warminster School. When
We got there we were put into two teams blue and
Yellow. Alice was in the blue as a centre, Harriet
and I were attacks, Sophie and Natasha were
defence and Yoyo was goalie. Then we warmed
up and then the match started. It started off well
until Warminster School scored their first goal.
Then we started to really try our best to get a goal
or stop a goal. About half way through we stopped
to have a break then the score was 4-0 to them.
Then we were determined to get one. I started
going up towards the goal to help Yoyo because
she could not see out of her helmet very well.
Then the time was up and the score was 6-0 to
them even though we lost we still had a really
good time representing our school.
Then we went to have tea with them we were
allowed beans, chips, and sausages. We all had a
good time. The man of the match has to be Yoyo
for stopping some goals even though she could
not see very well. I would like to thank Mr Dodds
for taking us up there and back and Mrs Napier for
training us and supporting us.
