UPCOMING ELECTIONS - SEE BELOW

    • Friends of Heywood

Friends of Heywood ("FOH") is a parent group which aims to support and promote the school and nursery for the benefit of all pupils and parents, current and future.

      Events

FOH organises regular social events for the children throughout the school year, including the Halloween Disco, Christmas Fayre and Summer Picnic. In addition, FOH organises social events for parents. Last year this included a Summer Ball.

      Support

FOH welcome suggestions, comments and concerns from parents about any aspect of school life and are able to offer support to parents to ensure your children get the most out of life at Heywood Prep. If you are a new parent, get in touch and we will be delighted to help you settle into the Heywood Prep way of life!

Informal socials are held at the Methuen Arms from 8pm on the first Thursday of the month, term time only. Come alone and meet new people, or come as a group.

      Fundraising

FOH fundraise through ticketed events, sale of refreshments at events and school branded merchandise to raise funds towards a number of initiatives. These include sponsoring educational or creative events such as International Day or arranging a  Mobile Planetarium to visit the school. We also raise funds for additional supplementary equipment which bolsters the resources currently available, like the Djembe Drums purchased by FOH in 2015.

      Meetings

FOH planning meetings take place 3 or 4 times a term. This term the meetings will be outside of school hours. For details, please check the FOH Events page.

      Get Involved

FOH welcome all parents at meetings and value whatever contribution or support you are able to offer, however small or intermittent! If you are interested in joining FOH we would love to see you, please come along to a meeting or contact the committee or your class rep.

"My children love that I get involved in planning exciting events and activities at school and are proud of the contribution I make. The welcoming, informal and fun-loving atmosphere of the group means it never feels like hard work, it's just good fun!"

      Lucy Coxall, FOH Chair

UPCOMING FOH COMMITTEE ELECTIONS - Summer Term 2017

FOH are inviting candidates to submit their names for the position of FOH Chair. We understand that there are a number of interested candidates so we have set out below a formal process for nominations.

If you are interested in standing for the role, please submit your name and the following information to lucycoxall@yahoo.co.uk by the end of term, Friday 24th March.

      Required candidate information:

      * Name of person nominating you (this should be another member of the parent body)
      * A brief description of who you are and why you want to stand for FOH Chair

Candidates will be invited to meet with Mr Barrett individually in the Summer Term to discuss the role and working alongside the school. Candidate profiles will be published in the school newsletter next term to give the parent body a chance to find out who is standing and decide who to vote for. For the role of Chair, voting will take place using an online voting system that will give the whole parent body the opportunity to participate, rather than just those attending the AGM at the end of next term. The Secretary, Treasurer and Vice-Chair positions will be elected at the AGM at the end of the Summer Term. Please note that Karen Moyes is stepping down from her role as Secretary at the end of this year. If you would like to find out more about this role or are interested in standing, please do get in touch at lucycoxall@yahoo.co.uk.
