Welcome to Year 6
We are looking forward to a busy, exciting and productive final year at Heywood Prep. A lot is expected of Year 6; I am sure they are up for the challenge. In the first few weeks of term, we have our class assembly on Friday, 16th September and we also have our Open Morning on Saturday, 24th September. Year 6 traditionally have a very important role as guides for visitors.
The work carried out in Maths, English and VR/NVR will be planned so as to help prepare the children for their entrance exams early in the Spring Term. As such, Year 6 children should expect a greater work load.
In Year 6 the children are expected to carry out a range of duties and responsibilities around the school. These include helping in classrooms during wet play times, supporting staff at lunchtimes and monitoring cloakrooms. All children are expected to carry out at least one duty a week and a rota will be drawn up each week to ensure that the duties are shared out as fairly as possible.
Year 6 is a very important year for all the children. Some of the children will be undertaking entrance examinations early in the Spring Term and all children will be carrying out other assessments throughout the year. The children will be expected to work hard but this should also be a very exciting and enjoyable year for them.
